Knowledge, Respect, Faith
The foundation for the Fatima education begins in our Lower School, where we combine an interactive academic program with a social curriculum rooted in our Catholic Faith. This curriculum enables children from three years of age through grade five to share the values of honesty, fairness, and respect, and to learn the skills of cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control. The academic program places emphasis on literacy skills, as well as on both the process and product of mathematical thinking. With a multi-sensory approach, children learn there are many ways to solve problems.
Our Middle School academic program encourages students to take increasing responsibility for their learning as they begin to organize, synthesize, and integrate information. Students transition from a fifth grade year that has them based primarily in one classroom but moving for a few classes, to the sixth, seventh and eighth grade years where they cycle through five academic courses daily plus arts/music and gym. Through this careful transition, students gain self-direction and awareness. Our fall outdoor education program, physical education program, interscholastic sports, and community service all present students with physical and personal challenges that improve their sense of cooperation and community.
The entire OLF faculty is committed to developing an outstanding program of curricula across the school divisions that is developmentally appropriate, challenging, creative, relevant, and enlightened.
